Nucleotides

Nucleotides are the building blocks for DNA and RNA. Every nucleotide consists of a sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base (A, G, C, T, or U). In DNA, the sugar is deoxyribose, in RNA, ribose (see Sugars for these structures). The structures below are full nucleotides (sugar, phosphate, and base). The bases can have either one or two rings. Single ring bases are pyrimidines, double rings are purines.

Each entry on this page contains information about the molecule, pictures, STL, VRML, and PDB downloads, a list of resources, and credits section.

The original VRML files that were used to create the models on this page come from the Library of 3D Molecular Models Nucleotides page. They are being used with permission.
