From 3D Printables

Jump to: navigation, search

3D-printers use STL files to represent printable geometries, and a number of programs can be used to preview these files before they are printed. Many Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs can load geometry directly from STL files and display it. All 3D printers come with STL viewing and preprocessing software. Some other options are listed below (add your favorite software).

  • MiniMagics is a free application offers fast STL inspection and compression
  • ProtoCAM has a free STL viewer
  • STLGenerator is an open source utility for viewing and generating STL files. Amongst other options, it can import and display an STL file.
  • 'topeScope is an STL viewer and editor (morphing, merging). Trial version only includes viewer. PC users may have trouble installing.
  • CtrlView is a shareware viewer and converter for many different 3D file types (ex: VRML to STL).
